A Lockback or Back-Lock is a locking mechanism in the handle of a knife that enables the blade to be locked in place and subsequently unlocked. A lockback knife’s blade also includes a tiny notch at the tang’s end.

AUS-8A is a stainless steel with a relatively low carbon content, making it rust resistant and easy to sharpen.

Zytel is used for several different high strength, abrasion, and impact resistant thermoplastic polyamide formulations of the family more commonly known as nylon. It is used for folding knife handles because of its stiffness, strength, heat resistance, and chemical resistance.
